Tekirdağ is a province and the 22nd most populous city in Turkey. The population of Tekirdağ is 1,107,491 according to 2021.

It is located in the Marmara Region; It is
surrounded by Istanbul in the east, the Marmara Sea and Çanakkale in the south, and Edirne in the west. Tekirdağ was a sanjak center affiliated
to Edirne province at the end of the Ottoman period. The province, which was occupied by the Greeks after the First World War (1920-1922), became a permanent part of the Turkish territory on November 13, 1922, after the victory
in the Turkish War of Independence.
